Virtual Reality-Based Job Training in the Disability Sector Gets Real!

Virtual reality (VR) is mostly known as the realm of gamers. But now — in Ontario, at least — it’s about to burst on the scene in the disability employment sector.

You are cordially invited to a Nova Scotia Inclusive Employment Collaborator Zoom meeting on Thursday, Jul 28, 2022 01:00 PM – 2:30 pm AST when we welcome Career Services Brockville, to learn how VjobReady is training that’s out of this world!

Please register in advance for this meeting:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

VjobReady is a fully immersive Virtual Reality training simulator. Its launch was made possible through a $380,000 grant awarded to Career Services, Brockville, Ontario by The Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.

Their first build, the Careers Café, was designed in partnership with industry professionals. It features a virtual food service environment that provides a realistic representation of quick service food assembly, order creation and proper hand washing in food service. It also incorporates training on a complex Point of Sale (POS) system.

Careers Café helps job seekers gain the confidence, skills and experience to have successful careers in the quick service food industry.

Currently, Careers Café VjobReady is a key work-based training tool for 160 job seekers who have a disability providing them an opportunity to get a feel for what it’s like to work in the food and hospitality sector.

VjobReady plans to build various Virtual Reality settings that will allow users to learn and train within a realistic job environment. VjobReady is the future of training! Take a look inside the virtual kitchen. https://youtu.be/rzeZVxKD8qY

We look forward to you joining us.

ASL, Closed Captioning and Zoom non-edited Live Captioning will be available. Please let us know of any additional supports you may need by emailing communications@inclusionns.ca.
