About The Nova Scotia Inclusive Employment Collaborators

The Nova Scotia Inclusive Employment Collaborators (NSIEC) was founded in the fall of 2021 to work alongside the business community and government to fill labour market needs by tapping into Nova Scotia’s untapped and under-utilized talent pool.

It was created as a barrier-free network to increase employment opportunities for job seekers with disabilities across Nova Scotia in response to the pan-Canadian Strategy on Disability and Work (DWC) Initiative.

After two years of consultations with persons with disabilities, injured workers, disability organizations, government representatives, labour/unions, employers and service providers from across the country, the Disability and Work Initiative released Moving Forward Together: A pan-Canadian Strategy for Disability and Work.

Mission

Reimaging how employment-bound individuals with disabilities connect to the workforce.

Vision

A world of work that is universally accessible.

NSIEC Objectives

Collaborators work towards a common goal.

  • NSIEC is committed to ensuring everyone who wants to work, and is ready to work, becomes attached to the labour force.

  •  NSIEC is committed to working alongside the current hiring ecosystem to improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities.

  • NSIEC Collaborators understand that disability intersects with other life circumstances.

NSIEC Collaborator Guiding Principles

  • NSIEC members strive to provide the highest level of navigation to help employment bound individuals with disabilities secure meaningful employment;

  •  NSIEC members understand that when employment bound individuals with disabilities become fully integrated working members of their community, they are able to reach the highest level of independence; and
